Where is Zanzibar


Well known for its stunning golden beaches, Zanzibar situated in the Indian Ocean.  Zanzibar is part of Tanzania country which is in East section in Africa continent.  It is located 36 km from the Tanzanian mainland coast.

Tourism is the main economy resources in Zanzibar as well as agricultural activity. They export raffia, seaweed, cloves and spices. 
Cloves history in Zanzibar tracks back to 19th century when Omani Sultans introduced the spice which originated from Moluccan, which is known as Indonesia nowadays.

Zanzibar is famous for its beautiful beached and coral reefs. The reefs in Zanzibar is said to be rich in marine diversity.

The 1600km of road network in Zanzibar is used as main transport. Company known as Daladala to the locals operates the public transport here. 
 Recent development in sea network makes sea transportation an important access for public along Zanzibar coastline. 



Zanzibar also home to Zanzibar leopard. The species is said to be possibly extinct due to insufficient collected data. Other rare species in Zanzibar is the Zanzibar Red Colobus. 
Unguja, which is the main island of Zanzibar is the place for wildlife and flora enthusiasts.



Most notable people in Zanzibar  is the Queen band’s frontman, Freddie Mercury was born in Stone town, Zanzibar.
